100 Triaging Two Week Wait Referrals According to ABS Guidelines Established During the COVID-19 Pandemic Is Safe Practice

Abstract Aim CoVid-19 has affected healthcare globally, disrupting cancer care. Two weeks wait (2ww) breast referrals were triaged according to Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) guidelines with patients no red flag symptoms deemed low risk and able be discharged back their GP. This study aimed assess the safety efficacy implementing these guidelines. Method A database was established prospectively collect 2ww from outset CoVid-19. Consultants if there disagreement, a third Consultant arbitrated. Data recorded for patient age, gender, presenting complaint, assessment, investigations, diagnosis, outcome also time initial referral discharge letter Results 188 referred via pathway St Bartholomew's Hospital 22/03/2020 08/04/2020. 43 (22.9%) median age 34 (22–83 years) at referral. The mean receipt response 12.1 (0 – 60 days). 15 (34.9%) subsequently re-referred. Mean re-referral one-stop clinic assessment 9.1 (2 22 days), in keeping NICE two week criteria. Of re-referred, all underwent imaging form mammogram and/or ultrasound scan. No found have pre-invasive or invasive disease. Conclusions Triaging based on GP is safe way streamlining patients. potential become standard practice worldwide but requires larger multi-centre studies prior implementation.
